Mahjong Connect

Mahjong Connect fills a board with tiles in pairs of four. You remove two identical tiles when a line with at most two bends can join them over empty squares, and that line may run around the outside of the board. As you clear tiles, new gaps open new paths. Levels grow from 24 tiles to 140. If no pair can be joined, the game reshuffles the tiles for you. Play Mahjong Connect free online in your browser — no download or sign-up needed.

How to Play Mahjong Connect

Objective

Clear every tile from the board by joining identical pairs.

Starting a game

Each level starts with a full board. Select any tile, then a tile with the same face.

Rules

  • Two tiles can be removed when a line with at most two turns joins them.
  • The line may only pass over empty squares; the empty frame around the board counts.
  • Tiles of different faces never match.
  • When no pair can be joined the tiles are shuffled automatically.

Controls

  • Mouse or touch: click or tap two identical tiles
  • Keyboard: H hint, U undo, N new board

Winning and losing

You clear a level when no tiles are left, then move to a bigger board. There is no losing; undo and hints are always available.

Tips and Strategies

  • Start at the edges: tiles there can usually reach the outside frame.
  • Clearing a whole row or column opens many long lines.
  • Look for pairs that sit next to each other or in one line first.
  • Every tile has three partners, so choose the pair that opens the most space.
  • Use the hint when you cannot find a pair; it shows one that can be joined now.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as a turn?

Every time the line changes direction. A straight line has no turns, an L shape has one.

Can the line go around the board?

Yes. The empty border around the tiles is part of the board, so the line can use it.

How many shuffles do I have?

You can shuffle three times per board by hand; the game also reshuffles automatically when there is no move.
