Spot the Difference

Spot the Difference shows two almost identical pictures side by side. Somewhere in the second picture, a few things have changed: a colour, a size, a position, an object that has vanished or one that has appeared. Click each difference you find, on either picture. The scenes are generated by the game, so you get a new puzzle every time, with more differences as you move up the levels. Play Spot the Difference free online in your browser — no download or sign-up needed.

How to Play Spot the Difference

Objective

Find all the differences between the left and right pictures as quickly as you can.

Starting a game

A new pair of pictures appears. Level 1 has three differences; each later level adds one, up to eight.

Rules

  • Differences can be a change of colour, a moved object, an object that got larger or smaller, a missing object, or a new one.
  • Click anywhere on the changed area on either picture.
  • A wrong click adds 5 seconds to your time; a hint adds 10 seconds.

Controls

  • Mouse or touch: click or tap a difference on either picture

Winning and losing

You finish the level when every difference is found. Give up shows all of them.

Tips and Strategies

  • Scan one object or area at a time instead of looking at the whole picture.
  • Compare the same area on both pictures; flicking your eyes back and forth helps.
  • Check sizes and positions, not only colours.
  • Small objects such as birds and flowers are easy to miss.
  • Avoid random clicking; the penalty adds up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the pictures real photographs?

No. They are simple scenes drawn by the game itself, which is why the differences are always known and fair.

Why are some differences hard to see?

Later levels use smaller changes.

Is my best time saved?

Yes, for each number of differences, in your browser.
