Color Paths

Color Paths asks for a single unbroken line. Start on stop number one and draw through the numbered colour stops in order, finishing on the last stop, and make the line pass through every square of the board exactly once. The line changes colour as it moves from stop to stop. Choose boards from 4×4 to 7×7. Every board was cut from a real path, so a full solution always exists. Play Color Paths free online in your browser — no download or sign-up needed.

How to Play Color Paths

Objective

Draw one path from stop 1 through all stops in order to the last stop, covering every square once.

Starting a game

Pick a size. The path already begins on stop 1; drag from its end to continue.

Rules

  • Move to neighbouring squares only, not diagonally.
  • The path may not visit a square twice.
  • Stops must be reached in numerical order; the game will not let you enter a later stop early.
  • The path ends on the last stop, and by then every square must be covered.

Controls

  • Mouse or touch: drag from the path through neighbouring squares
  • Keyboard: arrow keys move, Space or Enter starts and stops drawing
  • Keyboard: R restarts the path, N starts a new puzzle

Winning and losing

You win when the path fills the whole board and ends on the last stop. You cannot lose; step back along the line to change your route.

Tips and Strategies

  • Work backwards from the last stop as well as forwards from the first.
  • Edge squares and corners usually force the route: a corner has only two neighbours.
  • Think about the squares between two stops: each section must be long enough to soak up the squares nearby.
  • Avoid sealing off a pocket of squares you have not visited.
  • Drag back over your own line to remove steps instead of restarting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Must the path fill every square?

Yes. The puzzle is solved only when the line passes through all squares and finishes on the last stop.

How do I undo a step?

Drag back over the last squares of your line, or press the button to restart the path.

Can there be several solutions?

Yes, and any complete path through the stops in order is accepted.
