How to Play Water Sort

Objective

Sort the liquid so that each tube contains only one colour and every colour fills a whole tube.

Starting a game

Level 1 has three colours in three tubes plus two empty tubes. Later levels add more colours.

Rules

  • Each tube holds four layers.
  • You may pour only onto an empty tube or onto a tube whose top colour is the same.
  • A pour moves the whole top run of one colour, as much as fits in the target tube.
  • You can use the extra-tube button once per level to add one empty tube.

Winning and losing

You win a level when every tube is empty or full of one colour. There is no way to lose; use Undo, Restart or the extra tube if you get stuck.

Tips and Strategies

  • Free an empty tube early; empty tubes give you room to move colours around.
  • Pour onto a tube that already has the same colour before you start new piles.
  • Look at the layers under the top colour: uncovering a colour you need is often worth a move.
  • Avoid burying a colour under a different one in a nearly full tube.
  • Use the hint when you are stuck; it shows a move that stays on a solvable path.
