Reaction Test

Reaction Test has two quick challenges. In the first, you wait for the screen to turn green and click as soon as you see it; five attempts are averaged into your reaction time in milliseconds. In the second, Critter Pop, small critters pop out of nine holes and you have thirty seconds to tap as many as you can. Both are short and good for a quick break. Best average —

Wait for the screen to turn green, then click (or tap) as fast as you can. Five attempts are averaged. Clicking early is a false start.

How to Play Reaction Test

Objective

Get your reaction time as low as possible, or pop as many critters as you can in 30 seconds.

Starting a game

Choose a mode. In reaction time, click the pad to start each attempt.

Rules

  • Reaction time: after you click, the pad waits for a random time between 1.5 and 5 seconds and then turns green. Clicking before it turns green is a false start.
  • Your result is the average of five attempts.
  • Critter Pop: one critter at a time pops out of a random hole and gets faster as your score rises; hitting an empty hole costs a point.
  • The round lasts thirty seconds.

Controls

  • Mouse or touch: click or tap the pad or the holes

Winning and losing

There is no winning state. Try to beat your best average or your best Critter Pop score.

Tips and Strategies

  • Keep your finger ready but relaxed over the click button.
  • Do not anticipate: random waiting times make guessing a bad idea.
  • In Critter Pop look at the whole grid instead of a single hole.
  • Your device and screen can add a few milliseconds of delay, so compare results on the same device.
  • Take a short break between series.

Game Variations

  • Reaction time: five attempts, averaged.
  • Critter Pop: a thirty-second tapping challenge.
