Go Fish

Go Fish is a friendly card game for two players: you against the computer. You ask for a rank you hold, and if the other hand contains that rank, it must hand over all of them. If not, you go fish from the stock. Whenever you collect all four cards of a rank you lay them down as a book. The player with the most books at the end wins. How to Play Go Fish

Objective

Collect more books (four of a kind) than the computer.

Starting a game

Each player gets seven cards; the remaining cards form the stock.

Rules

  • On your turn, click a card to ask for its rank. You can only ask for ranks you hold.
  • If the computer has any, you receive all of them and ask again.
  • Otherwise you “go fish”: you draw the top card of the stock. If it is the rank you asked for you get another turn; if not, the turn passes.
  • Four cards of a rank form a book and are put aside. A player with an empty hand draws up to five cards.

Controls

  • Mouse or touch: click a card in your hand to ask for that rank

Winning and losing

The game ends when all thirteen books are made or no cards are left. The player with more books wins; equal books is a tie.

Tips and Strategies

  • Remember which ranks the computer asked you for; it probably holds them.
  • Ask for ranks you already hold several of; they complete a book quickly.
  • Pay attention to cards that you give away, since the computer will remember them.
  • When you draw a card from the stock, think about which rank to ask next.
  • Luck plays a big part, but memory helps.

Luck plays a part in every game, so no strategy can guarantee a win.
