Five Dice

Five Dice is a solo dice game of risk and choice. On each of thirteen turns you roll five dice up to three times, keeping the ones you like, and then must score the result in one of thirteen categories, from simple sums of ones to sixes to runs, full houses and five of a kind. Every category can be used once, so you must decide where each roll is best spent. Play Five Dice free online in your browser — no download or sign-up needed.

Finish all thirteen categories with the highest total.

Starting a game

Press Roll. After the first roll you can hold dice, roll again (up to three rolls per turn), and then choose a category.

Rules

  • Ones to Sixes: the sum of the dice showing that number.
  • Three alike and Four alike: the sum of all five dice if you have that many of a kind.
  • Full house (three of one number and two of another): 28 points.
  • Short run (four in a row): 32; long run (five in a row): 42; five alike: 60. Chance: the sum of all dice.
  • If your Ones to Sixes total is at least 65, you get a 40-point bonus.

Controls

  • Mouse or touch: click dice to hold them, click a category to score
  • Keyboard: Space to roll, keys 1–5 to hold dice

Winning and losing

The game ends when all categories are filled; compare with your best.

Tips and Strategies

  • Think about which categories are still open before keeping dice.
  • Use Chance for a bad turn.
  • Aim for threes and fours of the higher numbers for the bonus.
  • Do not chase a five-alike too long; the chance is low.
  • Score a zero in a hard category when a roll is poor.

Luck plays a part in every game, so no strategy can guarantee a win.
